The National Chairman of the 2026 Yauri Rigatta Cultural Festival, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, has announced the postponement of the festival indefinitely.
Tafida, who is also the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, made the announcement at a press conference in Birnin Kebbi.

It could be recalled that the festival was billed to kick off from 4th to 7th February 2026.
While speaking on the postponement, Tafida said: “I have the obligation to inform you that Rigatta Cultural Festival has been postponed. The new date will be announced very soon. This postponement became a thing of necessity due to organising issue. We also have the obligation to also thank the State Government for providing fund to conduct Rigatta Cultural Festival.
“We are all aware that Argungu Fishing Festival is coming a week after the date scheduled for Rigatta. So, we find it very difficult to invite people to attend Rigatta and a week later, they will still come for Argungu Fishing Festival. This and many other reasons compeled us to postpone the Rigatta Cultural Festival,” he said.
