From Olanrewaju Lawal Birnin Kebbi
The Emir of Yauri, Dr Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, has said plans have been concluded to upgrade the annual Yauri Festival Rigata to international standard.
Abdullahi disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, shortly after a marathon meeting with members of the publicity committee.
The committee meeting was the first phase ahead of the festival slated to hold from February 13 through 15, 2025.
The Emir, represented by the Vice Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Abubakar Saidu Yakubu, the Ubandoman Yauri, said that the purpose of the meeting was to fine tune the preparation of the forth coming festival coming up in February, 2025.
According to him, “the publicity committee has identified grey areas, which failed to give the festival held last year the glamour, test and standard to meet global target. We have itemized the problems and we are working to erase them completely to ensure total and tourists friendly festival,” he said.
He solicited the media houses’ support and collaboration as critical stakeholders in the propagation of the festival, which has now become international.
Rigata festival is an annual cultural festival that showcases the rich culture of Yauri Emirate and the people of Kebbi. With its elevation to international standard, foreign tourists are expected in Yauri to boost global ties and bring revenue to the state and the country.
