Former Deputy Rector (administration), Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Dr. Omobayo Taofeek Raheem, has called for the deployment of the Artificial Intelligence (A1) in all spheres of the nation’s economy.
Raheem, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, made the suggestion when he delivered the 17th Inaugural Lecture Series 2025, titled: “Capacitance of Artificial Intelligence: Communication Framing and Learning in a Growing Economy”.
The inaugural lecture attracted the former gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Jimmy Agbaja, Oba Sefiu Ajani Oyebola, the Aseyin of Iseyin, YABATECH management team led by the Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, colleagues from other institutions, lecturers in the School of Liberal Studies and Mass Communication, students and family members.
He explained that with the necessary tools put in place, AI would enhance human potentials, critical thinking and creativity alongside its computational powers.
Raheem, who is also the Director, Center for Information, Communication and Public Relations, said the advantage and goals of AI advancement and incursion into our daily lives, the industries, organizations, and institutions of learning would realized without compromising important human skills and judgment.
He charged corporate bodies, businesses, schools, universities, research centers and learning institutes to vote funds and make efforts at human resource development in order to bring their workforce up to date in the world of technology.
