The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raided over 20 shops and storage facilities along Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos State.

The agency disclosed this in an X post on Saturday.

NAFDAC said the operation was carried out by the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate earlier in the week.

It said, “The team confiscated a large consignment of banned codeine-based syrups and other controlled substances.

“Thirteen shops were sealed for dealing in unregistered, expired, banned and controlled products, including Dynamogen Oral Solution, Diazepam, Molly, Co-codamol and Bromazepam.

“These substances pose severe risks to vital organs such as the brain, liver and kidneys, as the safety and efficacy of unregistered and banned medicines cannot be guaranteed.

“NAFDAC urges the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.”
