YABATECH graduates 8,654 students as 291 bag distinction

The Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) will next week graduate 8,654 students in various academic programmes out of which 291 obtained distinction.

The Rector of YABATECH, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, disclosed this at a briefing to announce the forthcoming 37th convocation ceremony and activities lined up for the event.

He also announced that the college will confer Fellowship award on three prominent Nigerians, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Majority Leader in the 10th National Assembly, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Yayi C Senator and Abdul-Samd Isyaku Rabiu , Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of BUA Group.

Abdul further added that the convocation lecture will be delivered by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and he will speak on “Entrepreneurship Development in the Digital Age: Leveraging Technology for Job Creation and Economic Growth.”

The disclosed that the overall best graduating student with CGPA of 3.90 out of 4.0 CGPA is Ani Faith Ada, from the Department of Office Technology Management.

He gave the breakdown of students graduating as follows 291 with distinction, 2,434 earned Upper Credit, 4,403 are graduating with Lower Credit and 1,526 students to receive diplomas with a Pass grade.

“These milestones underscore our dedication to delivering top-tier education, fostering innovation, and engaging effectively with our community,” he stated.
On the award, Abdul said the three eminent Nigerians have made outstanding contributions to the nation’s digital and economic landscape, adding, ‘these individuals embody leadership, innovation, and service that are capable of inspiring our students to pursue excellence in technology and entrepreneurship.”

According to him, the awardees have distinguished Nigerians and made exceptional contributions to educational, industry governance and society at large.
He added that their achievements in public service reflect the value, dedication, integrity and excellence the college seek to instill in its students.

The used the occasion to highlight some of the achievements recorded under his administration, which includes introduction of new courses, improved staff and students welfare, partnership and collaboration with the industry and scholarship and financial aid to students.

The Rector assured that this convocation will uphold the highest standards of academic excellence, decorum, and innovation that YABATECH is renowned for, noting, “we have put in place robust security, logistics, and health safety measures to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for participants.
