Wwife of Oyo State governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, on Sunday, donated food items to orphanages, widows and the less privileged in the state to celebrate Christmas and New Year festivals.
Parts of the items distributed by the governor’s wife at Government House, in Ibadan, were Rice, Garri, Vegetable oil, Semovita, Spaggetti, other food stuff generally and cash.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Ajimobi thanked her husband, Governor Abiola Ajimobi, for taking good care of less privileged in the state, noting that the governor always show concern in the situation of women , particularly, and their children.
She also tasked the women on need to take good care of their wards adding that women are the determinants of the future of their wards hence the need to always guide them to right paths.
Mrs. Ajimobi, while welcoming Hon. Olawumi Oladeji, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly from Ogbomoso North State Constituency to All Progressive Congress (APC) from Labour Party, said there was need for all women to be actively involved in politics as the relevance of women in politics could not underestimated.
Her words, “We should not wait till our husbands are involved in politics before we play active role in political affairs because the world is waiting for us to bring about positive change in political affairs of the state.
“In the name of the state women leaders, we welcome Hon. Oladeji to APC fold. You have been part of the APC forum and your immense impact will be felt now you’re fully member of the party”, Mrs. Ajimobi said.
Also speaking, the state’s commissioner for Women Affairs, Community Development, Social Welfare And Poverty alleviation, Mrs. Atinuke Osunkoya, said the distribution of food items is a yearly gesture by the wife of the governor.
She added that the governor’s wife has relived the hopes of the less privileged in the state through the distribution of food items and cash during festive period like this Yuletide.
