Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi 17 smartphone to the Nigerian market, adding a new device to its Redmi range with emphasis on battery capacity, display size, camera capabilities and everyday performance.
The smartphone comes with a 7,500mAh battery, which the company said is designed to support extended use for activities including video streaming, social media browsing, calls and photography.
It also supports 45W Turbo Charging, allowing the battery to be recharged at a faster rate.
According to Xiaomi’s Head of Marketing, Li Shuyue, the Redmi 17 was developed in response to changing patterns in smartphone usage.
“Xiaomi has always been about bringing meaningful technology to more people, and with Redmi 17, we are responding to the way consumers actually live with their smartphones today,” Shuyue said.
The device features a 6.9-inch display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The larger screen is designed for activities such as watching videos, gaming, browsing and other forms of mobile entertainment.
On the design side, the Redmi 17 has a flat display and matte frame and will be available in four colour options: Black, Deep Blue, Oak Green and Lotus Purple.

The smartphone also features Dynamic RGB lighting, which can respond to activities such as incoming calls, notifications and charging.
For photography, the Redmi 17 is equipped with a 50MP AI dual-camera system, while the front camera is positioned to support video calls and other user-generated content.
The device runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and is powered by the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra platform, which the company said supports multitasking, communication and entertainment.
The Redmi 17 will be available in Nigeria in three memory and storage configurations.
The 4GB RAM with 128GB storage variant is priced at ₦213,400, while the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage model will retail for ₦271,700. The 6GB RAM with 256GB storage variant is priced at ₦302,200.
The smartphone will be sold in Black, Deep Blue, Oak Green and Lotus Purple colour options.
