Canadian actor Tyler Mane, known for playing Sabretooth in X-Men (2000), has disclosed that he was diagnosed with a “super rare” form of breast cancer.

Taking to Instagram, Mane, who reprised the role in Deadpool & Wolverine (2004), spoke about the condition predominantly associated with women.

The 59-year-old shared that his initial thought was to keep his diagnosis a secret. However, he changed his mind and decided to make it public.

“I have some bad news: I start chemo today. One in 750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and I’m one of them,” the former pro wrestler said in a video.

According to Mane, “only 1% of breast cancers are in men,” which explains why there is still stigma around it.

“I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in advanced stages BECAUSE it’s not talked about and not looked for.

“In fact, my doctors all dismissed it, and it was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early.”

“I’ll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean it’s kind of embarrassing,” the actor added.
