World Sports Journalists Day: Igoche Mark calls for compulsory Life Assurance Policy for sports journalists in Nigeria

Igoche Mark has called for the implementation of a compulsory Life Assurance Policy for journalists in Nigeria, while extolling the importance of Sports Writers in the promotion, information and education in sports development in any country.

Mark, the visionary behind the Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship, started this on Tuesday on the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day celebrations.

He called for the implementation of a compulsory Life Assurance Policy for journalists in Nigeria.

“Recognizing the inherent risks and challenges faced by those dedicated to sports reporting news, I emphasized the need for financial protection for sports journalists and their families. A Life Assurance Policy would serve as a safety net, providing financial assistance and support to sports journalists in times of need,” Mark stated.

Every July 2 is celebrated as World Sports Journalist Day which is meant to recognise the outstanding efforts of the pen pushers who bring the game of sports closer to its viewers, listeners or readers as it may be.
