No fewer than 500 commercial drivers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, benefitted from free eye screenings, medication, recommended glasses and corrective eye surgeries sponsored by Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.
The medical outreach, held to mark World Sight Day 2026, focused on commercial motorists, who, according to the organisers, their professional duties placed them on the road for long hours.
The statement by Petra Akinti Onyegbule, National Director, Research, Media and Strategic Communications revealed that the medical outreach organised by BATMEDICS in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), took place at the Abuja Medical Store (ACMS), beside Jabi Park.

While emphasising the importance of extending care beyond diagnosis, BATMEDICS Director-General, Ojeje Amin Onimisi, who spoke during the outreach, said that: “Drivers occupy a critical but highly vulnerable position in our nation’s transport system.”
Enumerating the importance of the outreach, Onimisi said: “To ensure this exercise delivers a lasting, human impact, BATMEDICS is not stopping at diagnostics. We are fully funding required medications and critical eye surgeries for beneficiaries to completely restore their vision and give them a renewed lease on life.”
Earlier, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended the partnership and its focus on road safety. Represented by the Assistant Corps Marshal, Ibrahim M. Bazama, in charge of Special Duties and External Relations, the Corps Marshall, particularly expressed gratitude to the patron of BATMEDICS, Seyi Tinubu, for organising the noble gesture.
The highly elated beneficiaries equally expressed happiness, thanking Seyi Tinubu for bringing eye care and treatment free of charge directly to them at Jabi Park.
