World Peace Day: UN honours 71 Nigerians

To mark this year’s World Peace Day, the United Nations has given awards to 71 prominent Nigerians, for their contribution to peace building.

This was contained in a statement by the
President, Global Migration Research Institute, Maryland United States of America, Prof. Williams Azuma Ijioma.

The theme for this year’s event is: ‘SDG Resources: Cornerstone of Peace.’

“The awards are in four categories namely; Famous World Ambassador For Goodwill. 5 recipients received the award including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike and Mike Okiro.

“The Second category – Prestigious Mayor For World Peace has 22 Recipients among whom is Simon Okeke.

“The third category, Distinguished Ambassador For World Peace, has 69 recipients. They include Prof. Elijah Omotayo Tola and Nonye Soludo.

“While the fourth category, Honourable Justice For World Peace, has 2 Recipients – Don Peter Okiro and Amb. Maxwell Ochade,” the statement read.

The UN World Peace Day is celebrated in March to promote the culture of Peace Awareness/ Unveiling and Commissioning of Peace Alive Initiative.
