Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been excluded from Tuesday’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match against South Africa in Bloemfontein.
The update comes after Osimhen picked up an injury during Saturday’s match against Rwanda, which ended 1-0 in favour of the Nigerian team.
Information from the Super Eagles camp on Sunday revealed that Osimhen has been ruled out of the clash against South Africa after he was assessed by the team’s doctor.
Super Eagles Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, shared in a WhatsApp message, “Team doctor confirmed Victor Osimhen’s injury is a bruise on his chin.

“He woke up this morning with discomfort and will not be travelling with the squad to South Africa for Tuesday’s game.”
Despite the win over Rwanda, the Super Eagles may end up missing a second consecutive World Cup as their qualifying series matches have been marred by poor performance.
South Africa tops the group with 16 points, while the Benin Republic follows in second place with 11 points. Nigeria occupies the third position with 10 points.
