World Cup: England to face Colombia in last 16

England will meet Colombia in the last 16 of the World Cup after Adnan Januzaj’s stunning strike settled their Group G decider against Belgium.

Southgate replaced John Stones with Harry Maguire at the break over the Manchester City defender’s troublesome calf injury.

Maguire and the rest of his defenders were powerless, however, to prevent Januzaj from producing his matchwinning effort with the one true moment of quality in an otherwise dour match.

The former Manchester United winger bamboozled Danny Rose, cut in on his favoured left foot and delivered a stunning shot up and over Jordan Pickford.

Marcus Rashford had England’s best opportunity in response, but the United forward failed to beat Thibaut Courtois in a one-one situation when a simple square pass would have presented Ruben Loftus-Cheek with a simple tap-in.

Belgium, who topped the group will battle Japan at Rostov Arena on Monday, while England face off with Colombia at Spartak Stadium on Tuesday in the Round of 16.
