Work has commenced at the proposed Abakaliki Cement Factory in Nkalagu, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Governor Francis Nwifuru announced this at the thanksgiving service to Mark the 66th Independence anniversary of Nigerian and the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state.
He expressed immense appreciation to the leaders of the state in keeping faith with his administration to deliver his social contracts with the people.
He stated that he leverages the peaceful dispositions of the people for an accelerated development, a reason there are seemingly no discordant tunes in the state.
“We are very united, very calm and very hardworking people”, he said
He further reiterated his irrevocable infrastructural stance and consolidation earlier laid.
To this end, the Governor said effective March next year, all undeveloped parcels of land in the Centenary City and Camp David Estate will be revoked in the event allottees defy repeated appeals to align their plans with the development ideas of government.
The Ebonyi leader paid special tribute to the ex-leaders, especially the late military leader, Sani Abacha, Captain Walter Feghabor, and Simeon Oduoye.
“We thank Late Sani Abacha who found us worthy to be a state and Feghabor all the way from Bayelsa, and Simeon Oduoye”.
According to him, these leaders “gave our people early political exposures and appointed our people to serve in their governments”.
He commended ex Governor Sam Ominyi Egwu, for his special intervention and investments in education and literacy, Chief Martin Elechi and David Umahi for their infrastructural interventions across the 13 council areas.
These 3 civilian governors, he insisted, laid the solid foundation for democratic consolidation and governance.
He berated those criticizing his administration on the basis of the slow pace of Works, stating their positions are not a true reflection of reality, given that within the last 3 years, roads, tunnels , bridges, flyovers, universities have been constructed while others are ongoing.
