Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajia Nafisa Nasir Idris, has noted that with the on going aggressive awareness against breast cancer in the state and Nigeria, no woman would die again because of breast cancer by October 2026.
Mrs. Idris, who led thousands of women, youths and NGOs on a peaceful rally across major streets in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital, to mark this year’s cancer awareness, said the agony of women going through breast cancer would be over before October 2026.
The rally, which kicked off at the Government House, with various associations and NGOs, comprises of women with placards, such as ‘the best protection is earlier detection,’ ‘no one should face breast cancer alone’ and ‘awareness is the first step toward breast cancer prevention,’ among others, terminated at the Kalgo-Jega Road.
While addressing the participants at the rally, the governor’s wife explained that with the on-going aggressive awareness against breast cancer, no woman will die of cancer again in Nigeria.

“I want to thank all of you for coming today to join this beautiful rally to create awareness against breast cancer. Every October, we organise this rally across the country, including Kebbi State and this year is not an exception.
“With this on-going aggressive awareness against breast cancer, with the available treatment, drugs and the support of the Kebbi State Government, women would not be dying of breast cancer, irrespective of their status in Nigeria. It is my belief that before October next year, no woman will die of this disease again by God’s grace.”
She commended the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Idris for supporting the treatment of breast cancer in the state, as well as the provisions of drugs for the patients.
She visited Kalgo Specialist Hospital and Federal University Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where she interacted with cancer patients and health workers.
