Women Affairs Minister Mourns NCWS President, Lau

Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has expressed shock and sadness over the sudden death of Hajia Lami Lau, the National President of the National Council of Women Societies (Nigeria).

Kennedy-Ohanenye visited the NCWS Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday to pay her respects and offer condolences to the family and members of the organization.

Describing Lau as a “wonderful mother and sister,” the minister praised her unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of Nigerian women.

She noted that the late NCWS President was a humble and compassionate leader who dedicated her life to ensuring that women in the country could attain their full potential.

The Minister urged the members of the NCWS to emulate Lau’s exemplary lifestyle by working together to ensure that women occupy their rightful place in the socio-economic development of the nation. She also extended her condolences to Nigerian women, particularly her immediate family, over their loss.

Kennedy-Ohanenye reminded everyone that death is inevitable and that they should take solace in God during this period of grief. She prayed that the soul of the departed would rest in eternal peace.

She noted that Lau’s passing has left a significant void in the women’s rights movement in Nigeria, and her legacy will be remembered for her tireless efforts to empower women and promote their welfare.
