Katsina: Police arrest woman for shoplifting N10 million goods

The police in Katsina State have arrested a shoplifter for allegedly stealing goods worth over N10 million from various shops and malls in Katsina.

When the police searched her house, they recovered sundry items which included 274 sets of shoes, 24 bottles of perfumes, a sack of assorted seasoning cubes and spices, and 67 sets of sportswear, among others.

A statement on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abubakar Aliyu, explained that the suspect, Hadiza Ibrahim, was captured on CCTV footage at Green House Katsina, where she was seen stealing various items from a shop.

“Analysing the CCTV footage, the suspect was closely monitored, leading to her arrest at the scene.

“Upon arrest, a search was conducted at the residence of the suspect, and items valued at ₦10,102,000 were recovered.

“The recovered items have been identified by their rightful owners as more victims, shop owners, were identified.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect has a history of shoplifting and theft, as she confessed to the commission of the offence. The suspect has been charged to court for diligent prosecution.”
