A 38-year-old woman, Mrs Christopher Veronica, is appealing to philanthropic individuals and organisations to assist her raise N6 million required for breast cancer surgical operation.

A mother of three, Veronica was diagnosed with cancer at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Cancer Centre, Idi-Araba, Lagos.

According to the medical diagnosis by Dr Agbakwuru of LUTH Cancer Centre on July 19, 2024, Veronica was presented with left breast-invasive ductal carcinoma, not otherwise specified, Estrogen Receptor (ER) strong positive, Progesterone Receptor (PGR) negative and HER-2 NEU positive.

Her husband, Ben Christopher, who is a barber, lamented his earning from haircutting and other side hustles were not enough to cater for his wife’s medical bills.

He appealed to good spirited members of the public to assist him financially to save her wife and mother of his children from her current health challenge.

“It all started in February, 2024, when she developed a boil in her left armpit. Without wasting much time, we headed to the General Hospital at Randle, Surulere, Lagos, where a doctor at the Out-Patient Department prescribed some tests and drugs for her.

“At Randle, we spent over N300, 000 running a series of medical tests and buying drugs without any improvement in her condition. During this time, the boil grew bigger in size and extended to her left breast, causing it to grow big with irritation and dimples. This was in June. So, we were given a referral to the LUTH, where she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“We were told to buy some drugs and pay for her medical procedures, which at present I cannot afford. They have also booked us for chemotherapy and asked us to buy other drugs but we don’t have the financial capability to present her for the operation.

“We require N5, 278, 340.00 for her treatment. I am, therefore, appealing to the general public to assist us financially to enable my wife to commence her medical procedures and eventual surgical operations,” he pleaded.
