With praise, WEBIC men mark day in Lagos

Still basking in the euphoria of the ‘White Sunday’ celebrations when the World Evangelical Bible Church Inc (WEBIC) celebrated the birth of the Holy Spirit also known as Day of Pentecost on June 5th, the church’s Men’s Fellowship spiced up the month on June 26th with this year’s International Convention .It was the Thanksgiving Service to round off the four-day event. Venue was the church’s headquarters in Ojota Lagos. The event was full of pomp even as all the men were in white.

The Men’s Fellowship took over every segment of the service immediately after the Sunday School. The moment the Master of Ceremonies, who is the Resident Pastor, Rev. Harold Chinnoyerem grabbed the microphone, the atmosphere in the auditorium became electrifying. There was praise and worship so spiritual that got people speaking in tongues. The Royal Evangels and the Classical Choir kept up the tempo. The Holy Spirit was literally in the auditorium.

Rev. Chinnonyerem invited the resource person, who is also Senior Pastor in the church, Dr Peter Agunbiade to the altar for pep talk on ‘How to live a fulfilled life.’

He advised the congregants to check their blood pressure twice weekly jog regularly, eat fruits, avoid negative thoughts and live healthy lives.

Another resource person, Major General Bashir, also gave tips on security. He admonished church leaders to rejig their security infrastructure in view of the recent attack on a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State which claimed dozens of lives. According to him, churches should watch their exit and entry doors to monitor would-be terrorists. He advised churches to provide emergency mini ambulances on the premises.

The Founder/General Overseer of WEBIC, Prophet (Dr.) Samson Ayorinde, served the Holy Communion

He read Psalm 119 verse 90 to preach holiness, saying “if you are faithful to the Almighty, you shall not lack the good things of life.”

Taking a cue from the advice of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the Christian community to take 2023 elections seriously, Ayorinde urged his members to as a matter of necessity, obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) immediately.

He introduced the guest speaker for the Thanksgiving Service, Archbishop Michael Odafe who was based in Warri, Delta State, as the first African clergyman to establish a church in Singapore.

Bishop Odafe’s message was down to earth. He rained curses on terrorists who now kill Christians during worship. He said: “God shall bring you terrorists to justice as you burn down churches, kill and maim worshippers. It’s time for the church to take a stand. For Christians, don’t let the enemies instil fear into you. Defend yourselves,” he advised.

To the congregants, Odafe urged them to obtain their PVCs and vote a ‘new Nigeria.’

He spoke on the the Men’s Fellowship convention theme, ‘Together in Christ, we conquer.’ Odafe quoted Bible passages, 1Chronicles 4:9-10 and Mark 15:42-43. Citing examples of Jabez and Joseph who both made it big because of their faithfulness to God. He prayed for the men and other members.

Members of the Men’s Fellowship didn’t send their guests away without giving them drinks and meals. But before then, Prophet Ayorinde prayed for everyone present before sharing the grace.
