Wikki Tourists Football Club (FC) secured a 4-1 victory over Zamfara United in an exciting 2024–2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) match at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, on Sunday, May 18.
The win propelled Wikki Tourists to the top of Conference C with 23 points, earning them a spot in the NNL Super Eight playoffs.
Jonathan Mairiga, named the match’s most valuable player, opened the scoring in the 10th minute and added a second goal in the 22nd. Mentaka Bangs scored the third in the 38th minute, while Mairiga completed his hat-trick in the 52nd. Zamfara United’s Abba Musa scored a consolation goal in the 89th minute.
Zamfara United’s Technical Adviser, Ali Mohammed, acknowledged the defeat, saying, “A match is win or lose, today we lost, and that’s part of the game.” He added, “I congratulate Wikki Tourists FC. They were prepared for it and deserved the win.”
Wikki Tourists’ Technical Adviser, Abdul Maikaba, praised his team’s performance. “We set a target to qualify for the Super Eight, and we’ve achieved it. I believe these boys can take us all the way to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL),” he said. Maikaba thanked the Bauchi State Government, club management, and supporters for their unwavering support.
