Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said that all communities that promote peace will continue to enjoy strategic projects from his administration.
Wike stated this, on Monday, while unveiling the reconstruction of the Government Secondary School, Abua, in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of the state.
He noted that projects implementation in Abua/Odual became easy after the people embraced the peace initiatives of the State government.
He said, “Abua/Odual is close to my heart. When there is peace, Government finds it easy to execute projects. We are here executing projects because peace has returned to Abua/Odual.”
Governor Wike said as part of the empowerment scheme of his administration, more than 90 percent of the contractors for the reconstruction of the school were from Abua/Odual.
He, however, warned that any contractor that collects government money and defaults will face the full weight of the law.
The governor said that his administration remains committed to the rapid development of the State.
“God has blessed us. While other States are struggling to pay salaries, we are not only paying salaries and pensions, we are executing key projects”, he said.
He urged the youths of the area to protect the contractors for speedy completion of the project.
Describing the project, the State Commissioner for Education, Dr Tamunosisi Jaja, said the school would be re-modelled, reconstructed and upgraded.
He added that boarding education would be introduced in Government Secondary School, Abua, as part of the remodelling process.
Meanwhile, the member of the House of Representatives representing Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Mrs. Betty Apiafi, has praised Governor Wike for giving Abua/Odual priority attention.
Also, the Oda Abua, King Kalay Obugeh, has lauded the governor for the return of peace to the area. He said through the implementation of projects, peace has been sustained by the Wike administration in the area.
