The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of significant infrastructural advancements in 2025.
Wike made this promise while accepting the Thisday Newspaper and Arise TV Minister of the Year award on 27 January 2025.
In a statement issued by the Director of Press (Office of the Minister), Anthony Ogunleye, Wike emphasised that 2025 would focus on massive investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and public transportation reforms to enhance residents’ quality of life.
Expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, Wike also thanked FCT residents for their support. He stated, “The time for excuses has gone; we are committed to delivering more infrastructure and development this year.”

The Minister’s ambitious agenda includes improving access to essential services, addressing public transportation challenges through private sector involvement, and promoting youth empowerment programmes. He also pledged to unlock the FCT’s tourism potential to stimulate local economic growth.
Despite past criticism over demolitions and land reallocations, Wike remains committed to sustainable development. He assured residents of continued work on ongoing projects, including road construction in satellite towns like Abaji, where additional funds have been allocated in the 2025 budget.
During the award presentation, Information Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idris commended Wike’s dedication and hard work, noting the presence of numerous dignitaries at the event.
Other nominees for the Minister of the Year award included the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Minister of Interior, Tunji Olubunmi-Ojo; and Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate.
