Wike PDP faction elects Kano state executive council

From Desmond Mgboh, Kano

The Wike-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected a 39-member state executive council to run the affairs of the party in Kano State.

The election, which was conducted by the party’s national officers at the weekend, produced Dr Bello Gambo as the state chairman.

The chairman of the national electoral committee of the party, Aminu Abdullahi Taura, while presenting the new team, explained that the election followed the dissolution of the former caretaker committee.

“We have the mandate of the National Working Committee NWC of our great party to conduct the elections based on a consensus arrangement and we have concluded the elections in a peaceful manner, without rancour,” he declared.

The newly elected chairman pledged to operate an open-door policy and to carry along all segments of the party in the state, insisting that what the party needs is reconciliation and unity ahead of 2027.

National Youth Leader of the party, Bello Ibrahim Aboki, told journalists that the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki faction had agreed to work with them, adding that here in Kano State, “We are making frantic efforts to get Shekarau and Aminu Wali factions to join the leadership.

He stressed that the PDP would never die, adding that, “it is the party that Nigerians are deeply in love with and it is a party that had never change its name or logo,” he stated.
