Wike hosts suspended Rivers lawmakers

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Monday hosted the members of the suspended Rivers State House of Assembly to a dinner in the United Kingdom.

Media aide to the minister, Lere Olayinka shared a video of the dinner on Tuesday.

“Yesterday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, hosted Rivers State House of Assembly members who are in the United Kingdom for Legislative Capacity Building, to a dinner.

“Wike left Nigeria on Sunday night after visiting his political friends and associates in Port Harcourt, Rivers State,” Olayinka captioned the video.

To restore political normalcy in Rivers, President Bola Tinubu on March 18 declared a state of emergency and suspended the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, deputy governor, Ngozi Odu and the state assembly for six months.

Before the president’s declaration, the assembly loyal to Wike had initiated impeachment proceedings against Fubara over alleged gross misconduct.
