Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has debunked a social media report claiming that he endorsed the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Ishaku Abbo, describing the report as fake.
Wike, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said the minister had no relationship with the Labour Party or any of its candidates in Adamawa State.
The clarification followed a social media post attributed to Wike, which reportedly urged the people of Adamawa State to make informed and thoughtful decisions at the ballot, while declaring Abbo the most suitable candidate to lead the state.
However, Olayinka, speaking on behalf of the minister, dismissed the purported endorsement, insisting that Wike neither endorsed Abbo nor expressed support for any Labour Party candidate in the state.
He urged the people of Adamawa State to disregard the report, describing it as false and misleading.
According to the statement, Wike would personally announce his preferred candidate whenever he decides to publicly declare his political support.
