Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of appointment for 1,659 staff members of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), some of whom were employed as far back as 2016.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the confirmation followed an examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.
Chairman of the Commission, Emeka Ezeh, explained that 2,512 candidates were invited to participate in the confirmation exercise, but only 2,281 attended.

“A total of 224 officers were absent, fueling suspicion that they could be ghost workers,” Ezeh stated.
He added that several of those who took part in the confirmation test were employed between 2016 and 2019, while others joined the service shortly before Wike assumed office in August 2023.
Ezeh further disclosed that the Commission has concluded arrangements to conduct the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises as approved by the Minister, in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to renewing hope within the FCTA workforce.
Affected candidates have been advised to visit the Commission’s official website — www.fctcsc.abj.gov.ng — to check the status of their confirmation.
