Wife attributes successes to adulthood to cleric’s impactful roles
Reverend (Mrs) Mary Cassidy, wife of a global evangelist, Apostle Michael Cassidy, has poured encomiums on her spouse for playing tremendous roles as teacher, husband and spiritual father in her life.
She expressed this during the 50th birthday of her husband, who is the of Presiding Bishop of the Lighthouse Family Church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking to journalists on the sideline of her spouse’s life’s journey and global evangelism, Reverend Cassidy attributed her successes till date, to her husband’s commitment to give her a fulfilled future.
Reverend expressed gratitude to God for giving her such an exceptional evangelist as a life partner.
She expressed: “I came into this (Rivers) state; I was born in Lagos, I came into this state as a little girl, gained admission into University of Port Harcourt with no plan or future. And I met him, I joined his fellowship and I became a part of his leadership in fellowship. And he taught me the word of God – everything I know to today. He even taught me how to dress, he taught me how to mix colour.”
“So, he’s my teacher. He has been my teacher before he became my husband. And he’s still my teacher till today. There are some things I do even on the public scene. And he says, No, you shouldn’t have said it that way. You should say it this way. And I believe that forever, God gave me a favourable man to marry,” she concluded.
Reflecting on his new age, Apostle Cassidy said what creeps in his heart is understanding life as a transition.
He stated: “I know that I am transitioning into something bigger than the last 50, the last 49 years ago. And I’m full with a lot of aspiration of the things I think that God still wants to do with us.”
The cleric disclosed that he had built his mentorship around older contemporaries in the religious circle, to overcome scandals.
Apostle Cassidy said: “To be honest, whether pastors, Muslims, native doctors, people have gone through sad situations, scandalous situations. But, one of the things that I have had is having older people ahead of me.
“It’s like apprenticeship and mentorship, to have people that you can share with when you’re having a difficulty, so that the difficulty doesn’t become something before the public.
“So, I believe that with mentorship and having a fatherhood covering, you can express certain difficulties you are having to your spiritual leaders before they become issues that you can’t handle.
“One of the ways I have succeeded, if you look at my life right now, all the people around me, they’re always older than me. I’m always asking them questions and I don’t shy away from also discussing with them my difficulties,” he added.
