Youths and students under the aegis of the Yayi Progressives Movement have staged a solidarity trek in Abeokuta, Ogun State, in support of the political aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Convener of the movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, said the exercise was organised to demonstrate the group’s support for the three political leaders and mobilise young people for active participation in the democratic process.
Akintunde, who spoke at the Ake Palace, Abeokuta, said the movement was backing President Tinubu’s expected bid for a second term, Governor Abiodun’s reported ambition to represent Ogun Central Senatorial District and Senator Adeola’s governorship aspiration in the state.
He said the decision to organise the trek was informed by what the group described as the economic reforms of the Tinubu administration, as well as the developmental initiatives and empowerment programmes associated with Governor Abiodun and Senator Adeola.
According to him, the movement’s support for the three leaders was based on their respective records and contributions to governance, youth empowerment, infrastructure development and constituency projects.
Akintunde said, “We have every reason to support our principals because we are confident that, come 2027, they will record a landslide victory.

“Over the past three years, President Tinubu’s reforms and Senator Yayi’s track record in empowerment, infrastructure development and constituency projects have continued to inspire many young people to support their leadership.”
The solidarity trek attracted scores of youths, students, party supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who converged at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, before embarking on a peaceful procession through major streets of the state capital.
The participants displayed banners and placards bearing messages of support for Tinubu, Abiodun and Adeola while chanting solidarity slogans for the three politicians.
Speaking at the Ake Palace alongside one of the movement’s co-conveners, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye, Akintunde described the exercise as peaceful and orderly.
Odeneye, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives who represented Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, commended the Convener for promoting unity and cohesion among the youth and student wings of the movement.
He said the exercise demonstrated the growing involvement of young people in political activities and encouraged greater participation in the democratic process.
“The Youth and Students Wings of the movement have conducted this peaceful and orderly exercise under our supervision. This initiative promotes unity, encourages active political participation, and strengthens youth engagement within the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State.
“We also want the public to know that we remain firmly aligned with our leaders and fully support the position expressed by our Convener. They have consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership, and we are pleased to organise this exercise in support of their vision as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum,” Odeneye said.
