• Insists no crisis in party

From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri

Imo State Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) Calistus Ihejiagba has disclosed the reasons why thirteen members of the State Working Committee (SWC) were suspended.

Ihejiagba, briefing reporters shortly after a meeting at the party’s secretariat in Owerri over the weekend, alleged that the suspended members were instigating a crisis by their actions and had to be curtailed before they jeopardised the existing peace enjoyed by other members.

“We can’t condone sabotage and insubordination. We repose absolute confidence in the leadership of the party led by Julius Abure and his exco members; that is why we have passed a vote of confidence in him today and suspended those trying to cause a crisis in the party.
