The founder of the Nigerian Humanitarian Awards, Emmanuel Anabueze, says the initiative was created to give national recognition to Nigerians making remarkable humanitarian contributions across the country.
In the interview, Anabueze said many individuals dedicated to humanitarian service remain largely unknown despite transforming lives in their communities.
“I noticed that while entertainers, athletes and business leaders were regularly celebrated, many Nigerians dedicating their lives to humanitarian service remained largely unknown. I wanted to create a prestigious national platform that celebrates compassion, generosity and service to humanity,” he said.
According to him, the awards are based strictly on impact rather than popularity.
“We don’t reward popularity; we recognise impact. Our emphasis is on evidence of humanitarian work, consistency, integrity and the number of lives positively affected,” he said.
He added that every nomination undergoes detailed research, background checks and independent assessment before recipients are selected to ensure the credibility of the awards.
