Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has said Oyo governor, Seyi Makinde’s push to wrest control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike is not to help the opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.
Adeyanju said this in a Facebook post in apparent reaction to Makinde’s remarks during a live media chat in Ibadan on Tuesday.
The Oyo governor, who launched a sharp political and personal attack on Wike, also declared that he would not support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
He accused Wike of working to weaken PDP from within.
Makinde stressed that while Wike is free to support Tinubu, he has chosen not to do so and believes every individual should be allowed to make their own political choices.

However, Adeyanju said Makinde’s quest to take control of the PDP was not for altruistic reasons.
Adeyanju said, “My take is that Seyi Makinde is working with Tinubu for second term.
“Only naive people who don’t understand politics will fall for his tricks.
“My opinion is that he wants to take over the structure of PDP from Wike so that he can enjoy the perks Wike is currently enjoying in 2027.
“Everyone who is serious about opposing Tinubu should be in ADC by now not trying to divide opposition votes like they foolishly did in 2023.”
