Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez chose an intimate wedding at home instead of the lavish celebrity ceremony many might have expected, prioritising family, privacy and personal memories over public spectacle.
The couple tied the knot on August 11, exactly 10 years after they first met at a Gucci store in Madrid. Despite their global fame and combined following of more than 750 million people on Instagram, they decided to celebrate the milestone privately at their home in Portugal.
The decision was largely influenced by the couple’s desire to create a meaningful family occasion after a demanding year filled with football, work and parenting responsibilities.
Georgina said she once dreamed of a grand wedding with a huge castle, carriage, long dress and diamond crown. However, her priorities changed with time.
“Now I’m saying: no. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home,” she said.
She explained that the couple already had access to the material luxuries associated with extravagant celebrations, making privacy and intimacy more valuable to them.
“Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: We have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate—that’s more unusual for us,” Georgina said.

The living room was also chosen because it represents the everyday life of the family. It is where they eat, spend time together and create memories with their children.
“We’ve chosen to do it in the living room of our house here, where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives,” Georgina said.
She wanted the children to remember the wedding as a family moment rather than a celebrity event, saying she hoped that decades later they would recall that something special happened around their family table.
The ceremony was not without luxury. Georgina wore her large oval-cut diamond engagement ring and planned to add a Chopard necklace featuring a 50-carat diamond. Ronaldo, Georgina and the children also wore specially made Gucci outfits, a fitting choice given that their relationship began at a Gucci store.
Following the ceremony, the couple travelled to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima for a private blessing.
The intimate celebration allowed Ronaldo and Georgina to mark a major milestone on their own terms, keeping the focus on their marriage and children rather than the enormous public attention surrounding them.
