Why Rangers keep improving — Balogun

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has revealed that Philippe Clement’s ability to communicate with his players has been the major attribute that has helped Rangers improve, Soccernet.ng reports.

Leon started the season with high hopes after a decent summer transfer that saw them recruit some attacking talents like Cyriel Dessers, Danilo, Sam Lammers, Dujon Sterling, and some other players.

However, they did not get the kind of start they would have liked. Former QPR coach Michael Beale had a poor start to the season, falling behind champions and close rivals Celtic.

Following the poor results, Beale was sacked on October 1, and the club employed Clement as coach afterwards.

Following his performance, Rangers have hit form, winning six of their seven games. They have also scored 18 goals within this period.

35-year-old Nigeria international Balogun, who has started three of Rangers’ last four games, says Clement’s ability to communicate with his players has been the game changer.

“I think his ways, he is very straightforward when you speak to him, he has this manner about him where you know he is just very clear,” Balogun said ahead of Rangers’ game against Aberdeen.

“He just wants to make sure that we get every single detail. Obviously, one thing that always happens if a new manager comes in the door is that everybody is trying to present themselves from the best side.

“That will factor in, but mainly, it is down to the way he works, which is really focused on details. He is just really into the details, and that helps. The door is always open, but again, he is very clear as well and demanding.

The Gers play Aberdeen this weekend, and they would be looking to maintain their unbeaten run under Clement.
