Excerpts;

What inspired you to become involved in youth ministry?

I was inspired by my desire to help young people realise their potential. I believe that young people need guidance, encouragement and positive role models, especially during difficult stages of life.

Why is youth work important in today’s society?

Youth work is important because young people face many challenges today. They need safe spaces where they can ask questions, receive guidance and learn how to become responsible adults.

What are some of the biggest challenges young people face today?

Some major challenges include peer pressure, social media influence, unemployment, academic pressure, family problems and uncertainty about the future.

How do you help young people deal with peer pressure?

I encourage them to understand their values and make decisions based on what is right rather than simply following others. I also remind them that it is okay to be different and to say no to negative influences.

What role does faith play in guiding young people?

Faith can provide hope, direction and strong values. It helps young people understand that they are not alone and encourages them to treat others with love, respect and responsibility.

How do you make youth ministry interesting and relevant to young people?

We try to discuss real issues that affect young people and use activities such as discussions, workshops, music and group programmes. It is important to listen to young people and understand their world.

What challenges do you personally face as a youth worker minister?

One challenge is that every young person is different, so one approach may not work for everyone. Building trust can also take time, but patience and understanding are very important.

How do you encourage young people to discover their talents?

I encourage them to try different activities, develop their skills and believe in themselves. I also remind them that talents can grow through practice, learning and hard work.

What advice do you give to young people who feel discouraged about their future?

I tell them not to give up because difficult moments do not define their entire future. They should take one step at a time, seek support from trusted people, and keep working toward their goals.

How can parents and communities support young people?

Parents, schools, religious organisations and communities should work together. Young people need people who will listen to them, guide them and create opportunities for them to learn and grow.

What impact have you seen through youth ministry?

I have seen young people become more confident, responsible and focused. It is encouraging to see them develop their abilities and make positive changes in their lives.

What influence does social media have on young people?

Social media can support learning and communication, but it can also create pressure and spread negative influences. Young people need guidance on how to use it wisely and responsibly.

How do you teach young people to use social media responsibly?

I encourage them to think carefully before posting or sharing information, protect their privacy and avoid comparing themselves negatively with others. They should use social media in helpful, positive ways.

What are your hopes for the future of youth ministry?

I hope to see more young people becoming confident, responsible and compassionate leaders. I also hope youth ministries will keep creating safe, welcoming spaces for young people.

Finally, what message would you like to give to young people?

Believe in yourself, keep learning, and don’t let temporary difficulties destroy your hopes. Surround yourself with positive people, make wise choices and remember that your future can be shaped by the decisions you make today.
