Hollywood mogul, Tyler Perry said he is not considering marriage.
The 57-year-old actor and filmmaker, who has never been married, spoke as a guest on The Jennifer Hudson Show this week while promoting his new film, “Why Did I Get Married Again?” which premiered on Netflix on September 9.
Perry told Hudson that he has no plans to tie the knot, citing what he described as the “divorce pandemic”.
He explained the decision isn’t about a lack of love, but about protecting what he’s built, pointing to the financial and legal risks of divorce as a key factor in ruling marriage out.
“I’m never marrying. and it’s actually the divorce pandemic that is happening. Everybody that I know that is doing well went broke because of divorce,” he said.
Perry said getting older has shifted his priorities.
“It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in,” he said.
Perry shares 11-year-old son Aman with ex-partner Gelila Bekele, whom he dated from 2009 to 2020.
Perry also announced plans to relocate to Puerto Rico at the start of 2027 with Aman and to “pull back a whole lot” from his heavy Hollywood workload.
The interview comes as Perry promotes Why Did I Get Married Again?, the third installment in his franchise that has explored marriage, infidelity, and divorce since 2007.
Despite his anti-marriage stance, Perry said he still believes in love and partnership, just not in a legal contract for himself at this stage of life.
