Why I visited Ikoyi Correctional Service, Dayo Amusa
Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Dayo Amusa has revealed why she paid a visit to the Ikoyi Correctional Service on Thursday, July 22 where she gave some food items to inmates.
Amusa who added a year recently took some time out to care for the less privileged at the Correctional Service in Lagos, alongside members of her Dayo Amusa Foundation Outreach.
Speaking on what prompted her decision, Amusa said:” My main aim is to put smile on the faces of the inmates and those that might have been forgotten by their family and society”.
“Over a decade, I love spending my moment of celebration with the less privileged and this is not exceptional”.
The gesture which she has been doing for over a decade surely left smiles on the faces of the inmates and the officials.
Amusa who has made it a routine for over ten years said it is born out of the love to give to the less privileged persons across the nation and beyond.
“I believe it is important to show love and care to the inmates, their freedom may be restricted for a period of time but they are still citizens of this country and might regain their freedom someday. I felt the need to make them happy and celebrate the Ileya Festival / and my birthday with them.”
On the impact her visit would make at the correctional center, the Unforgivable actress said: “I believe the donation will go a long way to ameliorate the condition of the inmates”.
