The member representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party, Hon. Hussaini Abdulkarim (popularly known as KERO), said he distributed cows, rams, rice, and cash to the members of his constituency to cushion the effect of the current economic reality in the Country.
The Lawmaker had on Sunday, June 16, distributed 30 cows, 350 rams, about 500 bags of 50kg rice, and N100,000 cash to each of the 250 carefully selected households during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in the Constituency.
Speaking during the distribution at a public school in Kaduna, the lawmaker said, the gesture was just in addition to his several plans for the people of his constituency irrespective of their social statuses.
According to him, the distribution was informed by the need assessment earlier carried out by the critical stakeholders in the Constituency.
Earlier, the lawmakers had embarked on a constituency road project, skill acquisition, and empowerment programme with start-up capital for the beneficiaries and distribution of farm inputs to the farmers.
“My good people of this constituency, you have asked us to support you during this Sallah. We have listened to you and today we are here as proof that we did listen to you.
“Let me add that, we carried out your need assessment before we arrived at this decision to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship in the country.
“We discovered that the cost of rams and cows are beyond what many of you can afford. So, we have gathered resources together to make this happen.
“I therefore urge you to be orderly as we share these items which include meat, rice, and cash. Wait patiently until those in charge call you to avoid contaminating the items”, he said.
One of the beneficiaries who spoke in confidence said, “We were given three kilogrammes of meat, rice, and cash. We thank him because our children will taste meat after a while because one kilogram of meat is N5,000 now in the market”.
