Afrobeats sensation, Ayo Maff said he would not be changing his lyrics to please anyone.
The 19-year-old singer, born Ayorinde Mafoluku Ayodele, stated this in an X post on Saturday.
He added that he has found what works and would be sticking to his guns despite being advised to alter his lyrics from some quarters.
Ayo Maff, whose debut album is scheduled for release in May, said nobody could force him into singing about things he does not know about.
According to him, no real fan of an artiste would make such demands.
He said, “I’ve only done this music thing for like 1 year & I’m lucky to be here all of a sudden this people want to push me into the dark by telling me to change my lyrics and start singing about things I don’t know about?
“If u can’t relate it’s ok leave it but u dey craze? Make I sing about ‘I go collect your girlfriend, comot cloth make we kn*ck’ or what?
“I’m a 19 years old boy that went through hell in life before this good phase. U want me to switch my music now? Na so Wizkid & Davido do am?
“U were never a fan; the real fans know this sh*t!
“It’s a movement about what I lived and what people are living out there and the people living it hold it dearly…”
