Music diva, Tiwa Savage has disclosed that she found it difficult to bond with her son, Jamil, for the first two years of his life because she wanted a girl child.
She disclosed this in a recent episode of theFlowWithKorty podcast, a snippet of which has gone viral on X.
Born in July 2015, Jamil is Tiwa Savage’s son with ex-husband, Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun.
The Somebody’s Son crooner stated that she always wanted a girl and was distraught after childbirth when she was informed that her newborn was a boy.
Tiwa Savage added that this caused her to be unable to properly bond with the child for the first two years of his life.

However, she emphasised that Jamil later became the centre of her world.
She said, “Honestly I didn’t bond with my son for the first year or two. I always wanted a girl. They told me it was a boy, and I started crying.
“So, when he came, he was always crying. My baby didn’t snap back. I looked horrible.
“I was supposed to do a campaign with Pepsi at the time and they had to not use me.
“I just thought this boy has destroyed me.
“But now, that’s my best friend. Me and him are like best friends, not even for the camera or social media.”
