Melody Iremiwa Morgan is a professional makeup artist passionate about creativity, beauty and helping her clients look and feel their best. With a keen eye for detail and a strong appreciation for artistry, she uses makeup to enhance natural features and create looks that inspire confidence.
In this exclusive interview, Morgan speaks about her journey into makeup artistry, the joys and challenges of her profession, her creative process and her vision for the future.

How did you become interested in makeup artistry?
My interest in makeup started from my love for beauty and creativity. I enjoyed experimenting with different looks, and through constant practice, learning and exploration, I gradually developed my skills and discovered my passion for makeup artistry.
What do you enjoy most about being a makeup artist?
What I enjoy most is seeing the happiness and confidence on my clients’ faces when their makeup is completed. It feels fulfilling to help someone feel beautiful and confident. I also love the creativity that comes with the profession because every client presents an opportunity to create something different.
What qualities should a good makeup artist have?
A good makeup artist should be creative, patient, attentive to detail and committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene. It is also important to be willing to learn and keep up with developments in the beauty industry. Good communication and the ability to understand a client’s needs are equally important.
What challenges have you faced as a makeup artist?
Some challenges include managing different client expectations, working within tight schedules, and keeping up with constantly changing beauty trends. However, these experiences have helped me become more adaptable, patient and better at what I do.
How do you ensure your clients are satisfied with your work?
I listen carefully to what each client wants and discuss their preferred look before I begin. Understanding their expectations helps me create a result they will be happy with. I also pay close attention to hygiene by keeping my tools and workspace clean, and I take my time to achieve a neat, professional finish.
What type of makeup do you enjoy doing the most?
I particularly enjoy creating elegant, natural-looking makeup because it enhances a person’s features without making the look feel overwhelming. At the same time, I love experimenting with creative and unique looks when a client wants something different or more adventurous.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
I see myself growing my makeup business, continually improving my skills and expanding my knowledge of the beauty industry. I also hope to train and mentor aspiring makeup artists while building a strong reputation for quality, creativity and professionalism in the beauty industry.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a makeup artist?
My advice is to keep learning, practise regularly and be patient with the process. Never be afraid to improve or try new things. Beyond creativity and technical skills, professionalism, good customer service, discipline and consistency are also very important. With dedication and a willingness to learn, you can build a successful career in makeup artistry.
