A woman in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has disclosed why she joined the August 1 protest despite being a nursing mother.

As reported by The Cable via their official X handle, the nursing mother joined other protesters at Eagle Square in Abuja and revealed a family tragedy as the reason for her decision.

According to the woman whose identity was not revealed, her husband was killed by bandits in Katsina State and this spurred her to participate in the protest.

She also stated that the police shot teargas at them, asking if they wanted to kill her baby,

“I came to protest the hardship in Nigeria and the police are shooting tear gas at us. Do they also want to kill my baby? People cannot eat. Things are hard,” she said.
