Fast rising rapper, Oluwatomiwa Ogunyemi Omidiji aka TommystYles sings in English and Yoruba with dexterity.
Born in Nigeria, raised in the United States of America and now based in Canada, TommystYles caught his musical teeth while singing and performing in churches. This helped him develop his talent more and made his buddies give him the sobriquet, ‘Raw Style’.
Speaking on what made him come into music, TommystYles said: “Making music has always been my favourite and best thing to do.”
However, TommystYles came into the limelight after he was privileged to perform in some big shows in North America. He did a duet with talented JVT and was later nominated as Best Performing Artiste. This feat inspired him to do collaboration with other local and international music stars. Among the stars he has featured with are Tekno, Flavour, Olamide, Phyno, and Korede Bello.
According to TommystYles, he drew inspiration from the late rap icon, 2Pac Shakur and strongly believes he got his (2Pac) guts. But then, he recognised the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti as his role model.
Tapping from both Fela and 2Pac, TommystYles is not only searching for fame but he’s also poised to bring changes and development to Nigerian cum African music.
Fondly called Styles, the musician who admitted he can never forget his Afrobeats root, has dropped hits like Good Girl Bad Girl, Sweetheart, Mama Africa, Respect is Reciprocal, No Stress Together and Today, a single featuring Youngjeff. He has equally released an EP titled, Holla, a four-tracker that comprises Holla @ Your Boy, Go Baby, Plantain and Mama, all of which are available on Spotify, Tik Tok and Apple Music.
But then, TommyStyles’ stardom story cannot be complete without remembering collaborators and promoters like Flamez, a Nigerian music producer based abroad; GhCali, Victory Bill, Ozee B and OlatBoui whom he featured in one of his songs. Now, his goal is to connect with people around the globe through music.
