Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta’s manager has explained Ademola Lookman’s role as a substitute in the club’s 2-0 Supercoppa semifinal loss to Inter Milan.
Gasperini surprised everyone by naming Lookman as one of his substitutes for the game.
Charles De Ketelaere and Ederson did not make the starting lineup also.

Lookman was only introduced after 56 minutes and was unable to help La Dea win the match.
Gasperini justified his judgement, saying he wasn’t experimenting.
“I was not experimenting at all. We have many players, we had a long and tough run of games, the Supercoppa came at the right time for us to verify players who contributed, but played relatively little compared to others,” he told Sport Mediaset.
“We were up against Inter in the semi-final and it was the right time to try this.”
