Alot can be put in when fashion enthusiasts want to achieve perfect beauty. One rare aspect of beauty is the one called microblading.
In this interview, Peace Mbadugha, a beautician who is into micro-blading, explains all about that aspect of fashion.
What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent technique for enhancing the appearance of the eyebrows, in which pigment is scratched into the skin in fine, short strokes resembling hair, using a hand tool with a blade formed of tiny needles. It typically lasts 12 to 18 months, providing a natural, low-maintenance, and water-resistant “filled-in” look.
What inspired you to learn this art of beauty?
Growing up, I was spoilt silly as the last-born. I refused learning any skill despite the fact that I was talented. I had a sketchbook back then where I drew different clothing styles and when my mum found it, she enrolled me in a tailoring school. But I dropped out because I couldn’t deal. Then I got admitted in school. Reality hit me. My sister sat me down and spoke sense into me. She said and I quote, “I get the fact that you want to marry a rich man but nothing beats having your own money. It commands respect.” That was when it hit me. I immediately contacted my friend that was into Semi Permanent Makeup (SPMU) and made inquiries about the training, and since then I have been in the industry and it helped me a lot back then in school. I have been three years in lash extensions/applications.
Do you offer custom lash styles or by recommendations?

What products do you use to achieve this, and why?

How do you ensure hygiene and safety in carrying out the art?
I achieve hygiene by keeping it safe and clean, sterilise tools and equipment, and use disposable applicators and products. Other ways include, following proper sanitation protocols, and ensuring a clean workspace.
What’s the aftercare process, and what products do you recommend?
Aftercare is key. I mostly guide my clients on keeping lashes/brows dry for 24hrs, avoiding oil-based products, and gently cleaning with right products. They should avoid rubbing or picking, and scheduling fills/touches as needed.
How long do lash extensions typically last?
With proper care, they do last up to three weeks to a month.
Do you offer removal services or touch-ups?
Yes, I do offer removal services and touch ups.
What’s your experience with microblading, and what’s your training?
I have likely worked on various brow types, mastering strokes, shape, and pigment blend.
I have got training in microblading technique and mastering the art of lash extensions from basics to pro tips.
So far, how many students have you trained as an entrepreneur?
I’ve trained 20 students, and they’re doing great now.
How do you ensure the design fits the client’s face shape and brow preferences?
I map it out perfectly, assess face shape, brow bone, and natural brow shape. I also chat with the client on preferences, style goals, measure and design custom shape, show preview, tweak if needed, and work symbiotically to nail the look.
What’s the healing process like, and how long does it take?
During 0 to three days, brows look darker, some redness/swelling. Three to seven days, three to seven days, brows start flaking, colour lightens, and one to four weeks, healing is complete, and colour softens. At four to six weeks, the final results show. It takes about four to six weeks for full healing.
Are there any risk or side effect one should be aware of?
With lash and brow services, risks can include allergic reactions to products, eye irritation or infection if not done properly, damage to natural lashes and brows, tech expertise, and client care. But with proper sanitation, tech expertise, and client care, you’re good to go.
Why do people do it?
People love microblading for fuller, defined brows. Maybe it’s about boosting confidence, saving time on daily makeup, enhancing natural beauty, and having brows that frame their faces.
How long does it take to achieve it?
Microblading typically takes one to three hours for the procedure, plus some time for consultation and preparation.
Any side effect?
Yes. Possible side effects include redness or swelling which is temporary, minor scrabbing or flaking, colour change as it heals, and rarely, infection or allergic reaction. With proper care, super low risk
How long does it last?
