Spain and Barcelona star, Lamine Yamal has revealed he asked his father to keep his famous baby photo with Lionel Messi hidden to prevent comparison with the Argentine legend.

The image, taken by SPORT photographer Joan Monfort, has gone viral since Yamal became a global star with Barcelona.

Revealing the backstory, the 19-year-old winger said the photo got hidden for this long because he asked his father, Mounir Nasraoui, not to post it.
He told The Guardian, “I told my father not to upload it. He posted it on Facebook once and I told him to delete it. The comparisons were too easy, that was the only thing people were talking about.”
Yamal added, “I wanted to be Lamine; I didn’t want to be Messi. I just wanted to get where I could. I asked him to wait. When it’s Lamine, do whatever she wants.”
