Wiz Khalifa, a well-known American rapper, has given an explanation for his belief that a person should date for at least ten years before getting married.
According to the father of two, dating for at least a decade would help couples to know themselves and their families better before popping the big question.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Club Shay Shay podcast, Wiz said, “People should date for 10 years before getting married because that’s long enough to know the person, their family, and who you’re going to deal with when you move in together.”
When asked whether couples should cohabit before marriage or wait until after they are wed, the 37-year-old said: “It depends on the situation and the circumstances. Some people move in right away and still need time to figure it out.
“If you don’t move in right away, you’ll learn that there’s one version of the person when you’re not sharing things and a different version when you are.”
On July 8, 2013, Wiz Khalifa married model Amber Rose, and the two of them had a kid the same year.
Citing irreconcilable differences, Amber filed for divorce in September 2014. In 2016, their marriage was formally dissolved.
Wiz is currently dating Aimee Aguilar, his girlfriend of five years, with whom he recently had a daughter.
