The World Health Organisation (WHO) has handed over a new hospital it built to Borno State to complement government efforts towards the provision of health facilities in the state. .

The state Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum, while commissioning the Phase 2 General Hospital located at Biu, Borno third largest town, weekend commended WHO for its regular support to and collaboration with the state.

Zulum who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, said the construction of the second phase of the hospital by the global body will boost healthcare delivery in the area.

“The World Health Organisation has always been a key partner in delivering healthcare services to the people of this state, and this project is a testimony to the highly impactful and fruitful collaboration between the state and the WHO,” he said.

He assured WHO that the hospital will be “utilised to strengthen the healthcare system of the Biu community and its environs. He also assured that the facility will provide effective and efficient healthcare services to the people.”

WHO Country Representative to Nigeria, Dr Walter Kazadi Mulombo, thanked Borno government for providing the opportunity for the global body to collaborate with the state and build the hospital.

“WHO appreciates the Borno State Government for believing in us and giving us the opportunity to support the health needs of its people. We promise our continued support and collaboration,” he stated
