When London Pastor, Tobi Adegboyega hosted private soiree

For Nigerian-born UK-based flamboyant preacher, Tobi Adegboyega, controversy seems to be the trademark of his ministry. Most of his unconventional actions usually spark conversations. Public perception or not, Adegboyega, the dandy senior pastor of Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, popularly known as SPAC Nation, has deliberately made designer wears, expensive pieces of gold jewellery, flashy cars and outlandish philanthropic gestures —particularly on social media— the hallmarks of his lifestyle. He has an exquisite taste for luxury as he often dresses head to toe in superfluity designer wear from head to toe, such as Guchi, Wesvetton, and Dior. Like his high taste of fashion, Adegboyega also has a high taste for luxury cars —he owns a Rolls Royce and a Lamborghini with a personalised number plate. No wonder, the gaudy cleric has been dubbed the grandmaster of glamorous evangelism.

Recently, he was captured on camera spraying bundles of crispy pounds sterling on Nigerian musician Davido at a wedding reception in London. This generated social media frenzy. But Adegboyega was unfazed as he described it as a well-deserved honorarium to Davido for being a good ambassador of the country. More so, for being generous with his money to whoever he chooses is his prerogative and no one else’s.

Last Sunday, the controversial pastor once again stirred the anger of many on social media as he heavily criticised his music ministers over songs he considered boring. Of course, not one who will allow those who dragged him to have their ways, the SPAC Nation founder sent an ultimate clapback telling those who have made his business their businesses to “go take your medicine. For progress thinkers, good Nigerians, which I have many as followers, there is hope”. While still on this, the celebrity pastor —who is a cousin to British star actor John Boyega, with whom he reportedly shared a room when he arrived in Peckham, South London in 2005— got many talking once again as he hosted a lavish loud soiree in the expansive courtyard of his £2.5 million eight-bedroom mansion inside a private estate in Soho, London with scores of Nigerian celebrities as guests. At the soiree —whose purpose could not be established — were Lagos stylish monarch, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi; Davido; Hon. Pat Ajudua and his lawyer son, Bobo among many others who were treated to varieties of gourmet meal and choice drinks.
