When fashion icon, Funmi Ajila-Ladipo, joined the diamond jubilee club early this month, not a few of her friends were fully prepared to celebrate the ageless socialite. Her face, in the past, has served as a reference point for the entire Nigerian fashion industry, particularly when she served as the President of the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN). Her 60th birthday created an ample opportunity for her elite friends, associates and family members to celebrate her, and the CEO of Regalia By FAL got a blowout as they all gathered at The Anchor Place on Osborne Foreshore, in Ikoyi, Lagos. It was indeed a great night on March 3 as Funmi—with support from her Advertising guru husband, Rufai Ladipo— spared no cost in the celebration of her landmark age. Scores of Lagos big boys and girls re-created the magic of Don Cornelius’ Soul Train groove with the old School vibes, dress-sense, the hair, and the happy life of the late 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s on the dance floor! It was indeed a celebration of life, success and good health of their good friend Funmi.
