Evans Baroque Limited, a leading pharmaceutical company operating in West Africa, has denied any links to the adulterated Giga S Injection.
The company’s Managing Director/CEO, Onyeka Onyeibor, who addressed the concerns in a press release, said Evans Baroque Ltd remains committed to its mission of serving Africa with quality products and services.
As gathered, the Giga–S injection Ceftriaxone+Sulbactam Inj.1.5g IM/IV is indicated for the treatment of severe infections due to susceptible organisms, including septicemia, pneumonia, and meningitis.
Onyeibor clarified that Giga S has not been in stock for some time, with the last batch expiring in September 2023. He revealed that counterfeit versions of the product with falsified expiration dates have been circulating in the market.
According to him, “Upon discovering this serious issue, we immediately reported it to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
“We are working closely with NAFDAC to ensure that these counterfeit products are swiftly removed from the market. NAFDAC has issued a press release warning the public about these falsified products. We strongly advise all our customers to heed this warning and refrain from purchasing Giga S from unauthorised sources.”
